January 29, 2010 – This week’s race in the Piggz League Super Speedway Series was held at Escondido the track with the very difficult and loose turn 1. The Screaming Eagle Racing Team drivers qualified strong with Rod taking the outside front row starting position , Ray in third and Bob in fourth. Rick and Rob both opted not to qualify figuring there would be plenty of wrecks in the early running. However the first caution did not come out until lap 25 when turn 1 bit Wayne Pribnow. The next caution came at lap 35 when Adam Sett and race leader Steve Zaker tangled. At the time, the SER drivers were running 5th, and 8th through 11th. Lap 58 found Bob and Ray running 1-2 with Steve Zaker closing rapidly in third. Zaker then got into the rear end of Bob (dues to warp) sending the KSHE Chevy flying and brining out another caution. On lap 65 Adam Sweet lost control on the front straight leaving SER’s Rob Scott nowhere to go but into him. That was the final caution of the day. The race ended with Rick finishing 5th, Ray 7th, Bob 8th, Rob 9thabd Rod (who got had lost his connection) came home 14th. Rick continues to lead in the series points but his lead is a mere 36 points ahead. NEXT WEEKS RACE: COLUMBIA Pole: Steve Zaker - 222.438mph |
